Classes Taught
8th Grade Drawing and PaintingStudents choosing to take the drawing and painting class are enrolled in a semester-long course. Throughout the semester students are exposed to various two-dimensional mediums. Lessons taught inlcluded instruction in graphite, colored pencil, acrylic paint, and recycled materials.
7th Grade Art 1 & 2Students in their second year of middle school may choose to take art as an elective. For students who were not able to take art in 6th grade, they are enrolled in Art 1 as a 7th grader. For students who were able to take Art 1, they are brought in to the Art 2 class. Though both classes follow the same curriculum for the semester, instruction is adapted for each class in order for students to be fully prepared for art class as an 8th grade student. Media covered included collage, clay, digital new media, colored pencil, and acrylic paint.

8th Grade Design and SculptureStudents choosing the design and painting course are enrolled in a semester-long class focusing on design concepts and three-dimensional art work. Students worked with various materials including wool and textiles, paper art, clay, recycled materials, colored pencils, and acrylic paint.
6th Grade Art 1Students are enrolled to take Art 1 as a quarter class. During their art quarter students are introduced to art concepts required for future study in an art class. Subjects studied included color theory, self-portraiture, coin relief sculptures, and perspective studies.
