8th Grade Design and Sculpture Lesson Plans
On this page you will find the listings and examples of various projects I was able to work on with the 8th grade Design and Sculpture students during my employment in the Spring of 2012. Links on the right-hand side of the page allow for easy download of all lesson plans and supplemental materials utilized in the classroom during those projects.
Mosaic Project
During this lesson, students worked with computer software to reduce sizes & alter colors of related images to assemble a colored collage photo of a larger image. Students looked at images of artist Chuck Close and other contemporary artists to better understand how this art form has been recognized.
Ceramic Face Jugs
During this lesson, students paralleled lessons learned in their 8th grade American history classes. Students covering American history researched and learned about the history of American Folk Art surrounding Face Jugs and how they were used before creating their own using clay.
